Group Therapy for LGBTQ+

For so many of us, our world feels like it’s on fire right now. Queer and trans people are feeling the weight of surviving in a political and social climate that is actively hostile towards them.

This group offers support through ACT*, giving you practical tools to stay grounded, practice mutual support, and keep showing up for yourself and your community. Led by queer, trans, and neurodivergent clinicians, you will learn how to protect your energy, stay aligned with your values, and live in ways that feel true to who you are.

*This group therapy program uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, an evidence-based approach for anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma-related responses. ACT helps people build psychological flexibility, reduce emotional overwhelm, and take meaningful action in daily life.

A Liberation Oriented Approach

Liberation oriented work recognizes that distress never happens in a vacuum. Many of our struggles are shaped by the conditions we live in, including white supremacy, ableism, cis and heteronormativity, and neuronormativity. We name these forces directly rather than treating them as invisible background noise.

In practice, this means:

  1. We explore values while acknowledging the systems that have shaped identity, safety, and belonging.

  2. We support emotional regulation while also validating the real conditions that create fear, shutdown, or exhaustion.

  3. We build skills for personal well-being and collective care rather than placing the full responsibility on the individual.

ACT gives us a framework to respond to harmful systems without collapsing into them. Instead of only trying to control feelings, we learn how to make choices that reflect who we are, what we believe in, and the communities we are part of.

What you will learn

  1. Grounding skills when emotions or external stress intensify

  2. Ways to protect and replenish your energy

  3. Strategies to communicate needs with clarity

  4. Practices that strengthen community support

  5. Skills for staying connected to the values that guide your life
