Meet Amara
Anti-oppressive and strengths-based trauma healing
Trauma is a complicated word, and it can have just as complicated effects on each of us. It can leave us feeling broken, confused, and disconnected from ourselves and the world around us. Whether you’re wanting to grow beyond a specific, isolated incident, or you’ve been dealing with something long-term, I feel confident in your capacity to move through any challenge, no matter how deep the wounds are.
I’m Amara, and I am honored to work with survivors like you who are wanting to reclaim their lives and build an authentic and compassionate relationship with who they really are, regardless of the ways that people in your life have made you feel small or unworthy. I believe you are deserving of care that honors every part of you, including your values, identities, culture, and wounds.
Oftentimes, people struggle to recognize the nuanced ways trauma impacts us, causing many of us to feel like we are the problem and that things will never get better. I promise to be patient and caring with whatever you bring into session, at your own pace and on your own terms. We can work together to process and reprocess the difficult things in your life, how to recover when things don’t go as planned, and how to lean into your unique strengths and skills to start moving through your life in a way that aligns with who you are and who you want to be.
This space is for you.
My training and experience in trauma healing and crisis intervention gives me the tools to be fully present with you along this journey. I can help you create safeguards if you want to push yourself, and help to ground you if things ever feel like too much. I will always let you lead and prioritize your safety. I know how difficult this can be and I’m fully prepared to devote myself to you and your healing journey, not just as your therapist, but as someone who knows you are capable of doing this.
